This is possibly the most extensive outdoor display in the world. The sculptures are in 10 acres of arboretum and water gardens. Lose yourself for hours along a winding 2 mile trail through enchanting woodland. More than 800 large outdoor sculptures are displayed throughout the year. The park is teeming with wildlife and plants which are ever-changing with the seasons.
The route through the park is thoughtfully laid out and there are so many different exhibits. Some are a bit wacky while others are thought-provoking and beautiful. This is one of the best “art based” exhibits in the UK and well worth a visit.
The sculptures come in all shapes, sizes and materials, and most are for sale.
Facilities
There are two toilets on site.
There is no café – you may dip out to the Bel & The Dragon pub by the entrance at any time during your visit.
There are three main areas where you can picnic, each located a short distance from reception. Each has seating or tables available. There are also two raised wooden Thai huts which comfortably sit up to six people each. These are the only places where you can picnic under cover.
Timing
Entry is between 10:30 and 11:30.
Visitors should set aside between 2 and 4 hours as the park is much larger than most people anticipate.
Mobility Considerations
The standard guided route does have steps and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
There is a step-free route around the lakes and up into the grasslands which is accessible. This route covers about one third of the park and follows the picturesque lakeside walk. It allows you to view more than 300 sculptures.
The sculpture park is not flat, and all of the trails (including the step-free route) are rough woodland tracks with a loose gravel surface. If you or somebody you are visiting with has serious difficulty walking on natural uneven ground, the park may not be suitable for you to visit.
