Royal Albert Hall Behind the Scenes Tour

Royal Albert Hall Behind the Scenes Tour

On rare occasions you can go behind the curtain of this much-loved Grade I listed building and see parts of the Hall that are usually off limits to the public. This Behind the Scenes tour takes you under the stage, into the dressing rooms and deep underground into the bustling loading bay.

Date/Time: Monday, 3rd February 2025 at 13:45 - 15:00

Location: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AP

Price: £18 per person. Member and guest £36.

Event Organiser: Alan Jarvis. 28 The Drive, Amersham HP7 9AA

Since the hall’s opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world’s leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage. It is the venue for the BBC Proms concerts, which have been held there every summer since 1941. It is host to more than 390 shows in the main auditorium annually, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestral accompaniment, sports, awards ceremonies, school and community events, and charity performances and banquets.

Over its 153-year history the hall has hosted people from various fields, including meetings held by suffragettes, speeches from Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, and Albert Einstein, fights by Lennox Lewis, exhibition bouts by Muhammad Ali, and concerts from regular performers at the venue such as Eric Clapton and Shirley Bassey.

This guided tour provides the opportunity to go backstage at the hall. It gives unprecedented access to one of Britain’s most inspiring and lively buildings; the tour includes access to parts of the Hall that are usually only open to artists, performers and crew.

Go under the stage to walk in the footsteps of iconic performers past and present, from Lianne La Havas and Adele to Shirley Bassey and the Spice Girls. Then head deep underground to the Loading Bay where the magical sets for The Nutcracker entered the building before dazzling an audience of 22,800 across seven performances in December.

The tour gives the full artist experience, taking us into the dressing rooms to see the very room where Mick Jagger prepared for his trio of sold-out Rolling Stones shows in the ‘60s – the third of which caused a mini-riot. We will also see how the show, hospitality and technical teams come together to stage so many diverse and spectacular events in the main auditorium each year.
